📰 News Highlights:
Fintech leaders are being warned that adding prediction markets to consumer finance apps could backfire. Santiago Roel Santos, CEO of Inversion Capital, says these “casino-like” features increase the risk of full account liquidation, where users lose everything and exit the platform entirely. While prediction markets may boost short-term engagement, Santos argues they ultimately convert active users into churned ones. In fintech, a liquidated user is simply a lost customer with zero lifetime value.
Santos believes sustainable platforms should focus on long-term financial products instead. Services like insurance, savings, and credit align better with how users mature financially over time.
As platforms like Robinhood, Coinbase, and Gemini rush to integrate speculative markets, Santos warns that those who treat churn as a serious risk will outperform. The real opportunity, he says, is building durable relationships over decades—not extracting value during moments of hype.
Senator Cynthia Lummis, widely known as the “Bitcoin Senator,” has announced she will not seek reelection when her term ends in January 2027. A long-time crypto advocate, Lummis cited exhaustion after years of intense legislative work.
Her retirement signals the end of one of the strongest pro-crypto voices in Washington. Industry leaders are already calling her departure a major loss for digital asset policy.
Lummis leaves behind a significant legacy, including her role in passing the GENIUS Act of 2025. The bill established the first federal framework for payment stablecoins and removed them from securities classification.
She also championed the idea of a US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and is now pushing for a final market structure bill. Whether she secures that last win could define the closing chapter of her career.
MoMA Embraces NFTs [Source]
The Museum of Modern Art has permanently acquired CryptoPunks and Chromie Squiggles, marking a major moment for onchain art. The collection includes eight CryptoPunks and eight Chromie Squiggles, all donated by leading founders and collectors in the NFT space. These works will live in MoMA’s Media and Performance department, alongside other experimental and technology-driven art. It’s one of the strongest institutional endorsements NFTs have received to date.
CryptoPunks are considered the foundation of the PFP movement, predating the ERC-721 standard itself. Chromie Squiggles, meanwhile, represent the origins of generative art on the blockchain and helped launch the Art Blocks ecosystem.
By placing these works in its permanent collection, MoMA is recognizing code as a legitimate artistic medium. The move reinforces the cultural importance of early NFT projects, even as market prices fluctuate.
💡 Feature of the Day:
Stealka Targets Wallets [Source]
Kaspersky has identified a new malware strain called “Stealka” that targets crypto users through fake game mods and pirated software. The malware hides inside cheats, cracks, and mod files, often disguised as popular downloads. Once installed, it quietly steals sensitive data, including crypto wallet credentials. Over 100 browsers and more than 115 browser extensions are at risk.

Stealka specifically targets major wallets like MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Coinbase, and Phantom. Attackers distribute it through AI-generated websites and trusted platforms like GitHub and SourceForge. Beyond wallets, the malware can also compromise messaging apps, VPNs, and email clients—and even install crypto miners. Security experts warn users to avoid pirated software and unofficial mods, as these remain one of the most effective attack vectors.
