The problem began when the deposit contract triggered the wrong event type, leading to an error.
The bug would've shown up in a shadowfork, but afaik we prioritized doing a mainnet shadowfork instead of forking sepolia. I wasn't aware that the deposit contract on sepolia was materially different from the mainnet deposit contract

An attacker further complicated matters by sending zero-token transfers to the deposit address, exploiting the edge case.
But what was the meaning of the attack? Attacker have anything to win at this situation?

Ethereum developers quickly deployed a private fix to mitigate the issue and stabilize the testnet.
No, they didn't have anything to gain from it

Despite resolving the problem, Ethereum co-developer Marius van der Wijden noted that the incident exposed vulnerabilities in their testnet deposit contracts.

Binance announced a new community governance mechanism allowing users to vote on token listings and delistings.
Binance is enhancing its listing mechanism and introducing its new Community Co-Governance Mechanism for Listings.
The ‘Vote to List’ and ‘Vote to Delist’ mechanisms will enable greater community participation and give users a stronger voice in the listing process.

This change aims to increase transparency as the number of cryptocurrencies grows exponentially.
Projects that fail to show progress, provide regular updates, or have inactive development teams may face delisting if voted out by the community.
Binance will still conduct due diligence before listing any project.
